MEYE / PRODUCT & SERVICES

Start with a capture. Make it a film.

A guide to the capture bar, terminal, Python and generator layers.

GETTING STARTED

Install Meye

Open Terminal, paste this command and press Return. It installs Meye in Applications and opens it.

curl -fsSL https://release.meye.ruobin.dev/install.sh | bash

Your first capture

Open Meye, then press ⌃⇧Space. The capture bar appears at the bottom of the screen under your pointer. Pick a mode, then a target.

The meye command line

The CLI is available at ~/.local/bin/meye. Keep Meye open and enable automation in its settings before editing through the CLI. If your shell cannot find meye, use the full path.

Start with help and status. Commands return JSON; command-specific help lists the supported arguments.

~/.local/bin/meye --help
meye status
meye targets
meye history list
meye shot --help
meye generator place --help

Python, included with Meye

Save the following as script.py, open a draft in Meye, then run meye run script.py. The bundled meye module needs no pip install. A Python 3.9+ interpreter is required.

meye sdk path prints the module location if you want to use it from another Python environment.

import meye

draft = meye.current()
print(draft)

# Run in your terminal:
# meye run script.py

Generators in any language

A generator is a local MCP server over standard input/output. Meye starts its command and calls its render tool for frames. You can write one in Python, JavaScript, Rust or any language that implements the protocol.

The render tool declares meye_t, meye_width, meye_height and meye_out. Write RGBA8 sRGB pixels to meye_out before returning. The same time, size, settings and seed must produce the same frame.

Meye builds controls from the tool schema. Generator settings can be animated on the timeline. Use meye generator place --help to inspect the placement command.
